Kitty Garner was recently named employee of the year

for the Blount County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.

Garner, who is scheduled to retire in April, has worked in the office for 30 years.

“I’ve always had this saying that we’re all replaceable but you throw that out the

window with Kitty,” Circuit Court Clerk Tom Hatcher said. “With her knowledge of the

office, her attitude and teamwork, she’s going to be a tough, tough person to replace.”

Hatcher said the employee of the year award is something he asks a committee to do.

“Applications are sent to a committee. People recommend someone for employee of

the year, and the committee looks at them. They decide who the employee of the year

is,” he said.
